North Ave Retrofit Update
Sharing a few progress shots from one of our current retrofit projects in the Penn North neighborhood in Baltimore.
With its historic brick façade, this project calls for a more intensive interior-side approach than our typical overclad deep energy retrofits. Before the new interior framing and insulation are added, an air barrier coating is installed overtop a new parge coat, delivering high quality air tightness and an unexpected (but very welcome) adobe-like warmth in the middle of a Baltimore winter.
It’s still early days in the construction process for this three-building, 24-unit project (including 4 commercial spaces), but already a clear reminder that high-performance retrofits can honor historic fabric while dramatically improving comfort and durability.
