Creative ways to design smaller spaces

There are many creative ways to design for smaller spaces and maximize usable floor area. Today we’re sharing the inspiration behind the clever and functional interaction between the entryway, bathroom and living spaces of the apartments at our Front Flats project in Philadelphia.

Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s “Door: 11, rue Larrey” the doors between the bathroom and living room area in each apartment serve a dual purpose. Depending on the door’s position, it functions to either enlarge the bathroom space and allow privacy or create an entry hall - doors that are both permanently open and shut at the same time!
