Exciting progress at the Brian J. Honan Apartments #DeepEnergyRetrofit in Boston.
The first interior “flip” - 1 of 9 buildings in the project - is now complete, and residents have moved back in.
They’re already experiencing the benefits of continuous balanced ventilation, CO₂ refrigerant heat pump water heaters, and new high-efficiency heat pump heating and cooling systems.
With interior work complete for this first building, exterior upgrades continue. New high-performance windows and doors are installed and the continuous airtight layer is nearing completion. Thanks to careful envelope improvements and installation diligence, the building’s airtightness has already improved by 64%, with further gains expected as the envelope work is finalized. Next up: full steam ahead with the overclad insulation + cladding install and getting started with the interior renovation process in building 2 of 9.
