Passive House Certified Consultants
Onion Flats Architects has a number of in-house Certified Passive House consultants/designers, certified through both PHIUS and PHI, as well as certified Passive House Tradesmen who have extensive experience developing affordable and successful Passive House projects. Our holistic experience as designers / developers / builders of Passive House, Net-Zero-Energy-Capable buildings makes high performance building standard practice.
Modular Construction
We have been exploring the opportunities offered by modular construction since early 2000. This included partnering with a modular manufacturer for more than five years and completing a number of modular projects. As a result, Onion Flats has extensive experience in the challenges and opportunities of modular construction. We provide consulting services in both modular planning, site suitability, financial analysis, and modular manufacturer selection.
Sustainability Consulting
Onion Flats has been a leader in sustainable design since its origin. From adaptive-reuse, renovation, to new construction, we provide a wide variety of insights in sustainability to a project team, from LEED certification, to Passive House, to common sense approaches. Our recent efforts have been focused on high-performance Building Envelopes using low-tech, affordable materials.
